From Morris to Frank Lloyd Wright: The International Arts and Crafts Movement with |
Dr Anne Anderson trained as an Art Historian and Archaeologist at Leicester University and worked as an archaeologist for 8 years. She was elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, London in 1996. In 1993, she took up a position at Southampton Institute as lecturer in Fine Arts Valuation, where she specializes in Victorian fine and decorative arts, architecture and interior design. As a senior lecturer, she now concentrates on research and publications. She was awarded her PhD in English in 2001, from Exeter University, for the impact of Aestheticism on Victorian Women. Her research interests include the Aesthetic movement, especially Art Pottery, and the Arts and Crafts movement. Anne is also a Trustee of the Victorian Society and a main committee member of the Women’s History Network. She delivered an excellent lecture to MDFAS in May 2005 on ‘Arts & Crafts-Men’. |

Signs and Symbols: Hidden Messages in Painting with |
Valerie Woodgate is a lecturer and guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, lectures in other major galleries and is on the teaching team at Dulwich Picture Gallery. She recently gave an outstanding lecture to MDFAS on Picasso and his Women. The day will be devoted to studying works of art from the 14th to the 20th centuries in order to examine the ways in which artists have used signs and symbols to give deeper layers of meaning to their work. | The cost for the day will be £30 per person, including coffee and lunch. The Golden Age of Dutch Art with |
Dr Margaret Knight taught in the art history departments of various art schools before joining the Victoria and Albert Museum where she established the Adult Education department and set in place a number of programmes including the first NADFAS Foundation Course. After leaving the Museum she was co-founder of The Course Studies and now takes her own study tours. She is a freelance lecturer for NADFAS and other societies. The day will explain the development of art in the Golden Age and look at the careers of some of the great Dutch masters. | The cost for the day will be £30 per person, including coffee and lunch.
