Alison Ludlow spent an afternoon with eight pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni (two pupild taken from each year group) leading a workshop to design a mural for the school playground.   They chose as their theme ‘Abergavenny’.   Their imaginative drawings ranged from subjects such as hot-air balloons, parachutes, the railway, a tractor dispensing slurry, to a man who had fallen into a bog...., all taking place in the landscape of the farms and hills around the town.   Over the next few days Alison put their designs on to graph paper and then scaled the paintings up to fit on to the wall, which had been prepared and painted white for her by the pupils.   She finished by preserving and waterproofing the mural with several coats of varnish, thus creating the beautiful mural below
